“Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.”Proverbs 12:25
Have you ever had one of those days where the to-do list just kept getting longer? Every-time you checked something off it was like three things filled it’s place? Or a day where it seemed like everything was going wrong? The alarm didn’t go off, you forgot you were low on gas, and you hit every red light on the way to work. Sooner or later we all have one of those days.
The question isn’t “will you one of those days”. The question is “how will you respond when those days come”?
What is your default reaction when things start going wrong? To turn inward, find your own solutions, stress until you figure it out? Maybe you start to make generalizations about your life. “This always happens to me. That’s just my luck. This is just how my life is. Things will never get better”.
Or do you turn to God? The only one who can really bring peace and comfort during those times. In proverbs 12:25 “worry weighs a person down; but and encouraging word cheers a person up:” God’s living word is that encouraging word. When things get rough, and they will, don’t blanket that day across your entire life. Seek God, get into his word, and remember that He that is in you is greater than anything that could happen to you.
“God, help me to see that you are ultimately in control. You know what’s happening to me, so it’s not a surprise to you. Help me to seek you out when it feels like everything is going wrong. Help me to realize that you are greater than anything that could happen to me. Amen”
