“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”Isaiah 43:2 NLT
Have you ever gone through a time or a season in life where it felt like you were constantly in “deep water”? Like it was all you could do to keep your head above the waves? 2020 has felt like that for most people. It’s safe to say that everyone, no matter your bank account balance, or how well your family gets along, or you jobs security, we have all felt the pressure of the waters rising around us.
This year has been the great equalizer. None of us are immune from its effects. While we cannot control what happens externally around us, we can control what happens internally within us.
”God help me to see that you are bigger than my situation. You are bigger than my year. You are bigger than my fears. Help me to trust and have faith that you are in control. And if you allowed it into my life then you have a purpose for it. Amen”
What has your response to this year been? Has it been fear? Shrinking back and succumbing to the wind and the waves? Going back to old habits and addictions? Running back to anger and gluttony because it brings you a few minutes of comfort?
Or have you responded with faith? Knowing that it doesn’t matter what happens around me because the God who lives within me is greater than anything that could ever happen to me.
We all have the opportunity, every single day, to respond with faith. Walk in faith. Knowing that God has a plan for this day that I’m walking into. And if God has a plan for it, I’m gonna find it.
